Books, in the shape of the thing you do
A feed of real ideas from real books, one card at a time. Swipe the way you already do. Land on a passage worth the thumb, open the chapter it came from, ask it anything, keep what struck you.
The feed
One idea a card, drawn from the books you are reading and the shelf you have not started. Swipe up. There is always another.
Not a summary of a summary. The card opens the page the line came from, in the book, at the paragraph, with everything around it still there.
What did he mean by that? Does the next chapter contradict it? The answer cites the pages it came from, and each citation is a tap back into the text.
And then there is the reflex
Name the apps you would rather not open. When you open one anyway, Ditch Scroll gets there first with a line from whatever you are reading, and a way straight into the book.
You can always continue — it is a pause, not a lock. And it watches from inside your phone only: which apps you opened never reaches us, and it is kept out of Android’s own backup so it does not travel either.
The shelf
Everything whose copyright has run out, cleaned up and properly chaptered — not a wall of scanned PDFs. Add your own on top: PDF, EPUB, or a photographed scan we read for you first.
What’s in it
Ask a question about any book and the answer arrives with the pages it was built from. Tap a citation and land on the paragraph itself — so you can check it, which is the only thing that makes an answer worth having.
A digest for the walk, not a five-hour audiobook. Or the whole book narrated, when you want it. Downloadable, with a sleep timer.
Ask what two books say about the same idea and get both, side by side, each citing its own pages.
The lines you kept return as cards, before you forget you kept them. Turn one into an image and send it to someone.
Urdu in Nastaʿlīq, Arabic and Persian in Naskh, right to left throughout — not a Latin font bent sideways. Chinese, Japanese and Korean in the faces your phone already ships.
PDF and EPUB, and a photographed scan with no text layer at all — that one gets read by machine first, then behaves like every other book here.
A single idea from what you are reading, as a notification. The smallest possible reason to open a book instead of the other thing.
