Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of Ditch Scroll. By creating an account you agree to them. They are written to be read, so where a plain sentence does the job, we used one.
Who you are agreeing with
Ditch Scroll is operated by Mehar Usama Waheed, an individual trading as Ditch Scroll, in Pakistan. “We” and “us” on this page mean that person. You can reach us at hello@ditchscroll.com, which is a real inbox a person reads.
Payments are handled by Paddle, who are the merchant of record for every purchase — the charge on your statement is theirs, and your receipt and invoice come from them. That also means Paddle’s own terms apply to the payment itself, alongside these.
What Ditch Scroll is
An app for reading books, asking questions about them, and turning what you read into something you remember. We provide a shelf of books that are out of copyright, and on paid plans you can add your own files as well.
Your account
You need a valid email address, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. One account is for one person. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
You must be 13 or older to use Ditch Scroll.
Plans and payment
- Free — Three books a month from our shelf, with everything else that makes them stick.
- Plus — $5.95 a month, or $59.50 a year.
- Pro — $14.95 a month, or $149.50 a year.
Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. Payment is handled by Paddle, who act as the seller of record — your receipt and card statement will show Paddle, and their terms apply to the transaction itself.
You can cancel at any time from Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan keeps working until the period you already paid for ends. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
We may change prices. If we do, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it affects a renewal, and you are free to cancel before then.
Plan limits
Each plan includes an amount of questions, uploads, page scanning and audio. Limits are per calendar month and reset at the start of each one. They are counted as work done, so removing a book frees your shelf but does not return that month’s allowance.
If you hit a limit we will tell you, and offer either to wait for the reset or to move up a plan. We do not charge overage fees without asking.
Books you upload
On paid plans you can upload your own files. When you do, you are telling us you have the right to do so — because you own the book, because it is yours to begin with, or because it is out of copyright.
Your uploads are yours. We use them only to give you the features you are paying for: indexing the text so you can search it, answering your questions about it, generating audio for you. Nothing made from your upload is ever shown to another reader, and we do not use your files to train anything.
Do not upload material you have no right to, and do not use Ditch Scroll to redistribute books. If we receive a credible copyright complaint about a file, we will remove it and tell you why.
Books we provide
Our shelf is made up of works whose copyright has expired, sourced from public-domain archives. Availability can change — a title can be corrected, re-processed or removed. If a book you were reading disappears, your highlights and notes remain.
What the AI does, and what it does not
Answers, summaries, flashcards and narration are generated by software. It is useful, and it is sometimes wrong. Answers cite the passages they came from so you can check them, and you should, for anything that matters.
Nothing in Ditch Scroll is professional advice of any kind. Do not rely on a generated answer as if a person had verified it.
Fair use of the service
Please do not:
- Share one account between several people, or resell access.
- Automate requests to work around plan limits.
- Attempt to break, overload or probe the service.
- Upload material that is illegal where you are.
If you do any of these we may suspend the account. Where it is not deliberate abuse we will contact you first.
Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you like, from Settings. It takes effect straight away and removes your data — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what goes.
We may close an account that breaks these terms. Unless the reason is serious abuse, we will refund the unused part of the current period.
What we promise, and what we do not
We will run Ditch Scroll with reasonable care, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption or free of faults. It is provided as it is.
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim relating to Ditch Scroll is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Changes to these terms
We will email you before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new version.
Disputes
Email us first at hello@ditchscroll.com — almost everything is settled that way.
If that does not settle it, these terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Nothing here takes away a right you have under the consumer-protection law of the country you live in. Where that law gives you more than this page does, it wins.
